Welcome!! This is the first installment of my blog. I wanted to create a blog to share info, teach, learn, and document my experience with photography. I must note some background that may have subconsciously contributed to my interest in photography and art in general. I have two uncles who are artists. I grew up around both of them so I was constantly exposed to their great personalities, great artistic talents and strong love for art in its various forms. I'm sure my love for art (and Apple computers) has its roots in my exposure to them.
I thought I'd start by answering some questions that have been asked by a few people recently.
It is important to note that I am an amateur. I have a LONG way to go and I'm learning everyday. While I am learning, I intend to share everything I learn with other amateur photographers and anyone who appreciates what we do. I am also going to promote the work of others that I like. I'll be updating often so keep checking and feel free to comment. Pics are on the way. Also, check out my facebook page and feel free to send me a friend request. http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=16305741&ref=profile
I thought I'd start by answering some questions that have been asked by a few people recently.
I began my "photographic journey" (as I consciously know it) at the beginning of the summer. I teach seventh grade math. On the last day of school, someone asked what I would be doing this summer. I really didn't know. I thought about it for a while and the idea of photography popped in (God is good!!). I had wanted to buy a camera for a few years, but didn't want to spend a bunch of money so I bookmarked the idea and filed it away. I also was afraid I would lose interest and have a $500 + paperweight. Once school was over, I was ready for a little splurge. I went to best buy (u can get a camera anywhere really, but best buy was close) on the sunday following the last day of school (June 28, 2009) and I bought my current camera, a Canon Rebel XS. Prior to this, I did some research and my canon vs. nikon battle ended with my camera. Would I consider a Nikon....yes. In a few months, I'll probably want to upgrade so I'll start the battle once again.
